In 1996 Bombardier and Russian Railways formed the joint venture Bombardier Transportation (Signal) Ltd., which is focused on the implementation and engineering of Bombardiers rail control solutions technology for the Russian market and across the 1520 gauge territory. During 2011 Bombardier Transportation acquired a 50% minus 1 share in signalling equipment producer OJSC «United Electrical Engineering» known as «Elteza» a subsidiary of the Russian Railways. Bombardier also supplied the electrical propulsion equipment for the new EP10 dual-voltage locomotives being built by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Works.
